Panzermuseum East…
In the 4500m2 halls, you'll see lots of Soviet equipment such as tanks, armored and non-armored wheeled vehicles, helicopters and all the other equipment needed for an invasion of Denmark. See the terrifying mobile field hospital, the large field bakery and much much more, all of which we would see on the streets and in the air in Denmark, well, only those of us who had survived the nuclear attack from the terrifyingly violent war machine that the Soviet Pact possessed throughout that tense period.
The whole thing is spiced up with a lot of authentic propaganda films, written text and more than 100 mannequins, and there is also a very informative exhibition about Denmark's civil preparedness that shows what you could or could not do in the event of a nuclear attack.
The exhibitions inevitably trigger thoughts and imagination about how bad things could have gone if a nuclear attack, or rather hell in Europe, had been launched. For example, book a guided tour and get a narrative as part of the experience.
Panzermuseum East is surrounded by 17 hectares of beautiful parkland and plantation and is therefore an ideal destination for larger family trips where you can enjoy a picnic by one of the 6 lakes or in the "field fair". Once the entrance fee is paid, you can spend the whole day in the museum and our beautiful area.
AT PANZERMUSEUM EAST YOU WILL EXPERIENCE SCANDINAVIA'S LARGEST AND MOST EXCITING PRESENTATION OF THE ENTIRE COLD WAR PERIOD FROM AROUND 1950 UNTIL THE DISSOLUTION OF THE SOVIET UNION IN 1991/92. THE MUSEUM'S PRIMARY FOCUS IS TO SHOW WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN ON DISPLAY OF ENEMY EQUIPMENT AND RELATED EFFECTS IN DENMARK IF THERE HAD BEEN AN ATTACK FROM THE WARSAW PACT (THE SOVIET UNION'S THEN FRIGHTENINGLY VIOLENT WAR MACHINE) DURING THE COLD WAR. THE EXHIBITIONS ARE CURRENTLY VERY RELEVANT IN RELATION TO THE FOOLISH AND UNFORGIVABLE ATTACK ON UKRAINE. MUCH OF THE EQUIPMENT USED ON THE BATTLEFIELD TODAY CAN BE SEEN IN THE MUSEUM, AS OF THE MORE THAN 80 VEHICLES, AT LEAST 25 UNITS ARE STILL USED ON THE BATTLEFIELDS OF UKRAINE.
2024 is the museum's 10th season and more than 140,000 happy visitors have experienced the unique museum since we opened in May 2014. In 2022, we received Tripadvisor's Travelers Choice diploma. We are very happy and proud of the great response we receive from our visitors.
